In our world many voices compete for our attention, it is as if we live in a market place where the loudest voice tries to drown out the quietest. These bright colours and loud noises surround us all the time and if we are not careful they can captivate us and we can end up spending our lives chasing them like the distraction they are. I often wonder if and when we catch them what real value they will have and if they will be what we expect? Because value is important and it doesn’t just apply to things we can buy or sell but it also applies to life, and this effects everyone, because everybody wants to be valued.
In the world today there are many places where life is loosing its value and the giving and taking of it is done in the blink of an eye. In the 1930’s America went through what was called “The Great depression” which occurred in short because the value of the Dollar dropped dramatically against other currencies and money itself lost its value. Life is the same and has a value and therefore must be measured against a reference point, but what happens when this reference moves. But what happens if the reference point is constantly shifting how can we find a true value ?
You cannot, it’s like shifting sand, just like the value of Gold, one day it’s up the next day it’s down.
What about morality then? Surely this restrains us and guides us. Well not really because morality is dependent on the society you are living in, and each society has its own moral code, so there is no reference point there.
But what if the value of your life, my life and all those around us were measured against a reference point that was not anchored in the sand of shifting fad, fashion or morality but was rooted in the eternal rock of Gods love.
What happens when the value of the most frail and insignificant life is marked so high that no man could purchase it. How does this alter our value system.
What happens to our value system when a tiny malnourished baby in the most isolated place on the planet is regarded with the same love and value as the richest and most noble Sheik or King. ?
If I were to tell you that this is the truth, and actually your life and mine cost God his own son.
If I were to tell you that you are so valued and loved that one man called Jesus hung on a cross so you could live, would this effect you life?
Do you know God wants everyone to know him as Father, he wants his children back and he sent Jesus with a message of true love. This message crosses all borders, all nationalities and tribes, it is for everyone, there are no exclusions or exceptions.
What if I were to tell you, you are More Precious than any other thing and that God loves you.
